Not waterproof
This is a nice jacket in terms of fit, comfort, and weight. I've had one for a couple of months and it's my go-to for most days--it layers well so it's great as a shell on cold days too. But the reason I bought the jacket was as a rain-proof coat to wear around the city.
Yesterday I had my first real chance to test its waterproof claims, and I'm *very* disappointed.
After wearing it on my bike in light to moderate rain for about 20 minutes I showed up to work very wet. The arms, the center of the chest, and the back were completely soaked through. After letting the coat dry, I rode again through moderate rain for about 20 minutes, again getting soaked.
I didn't expect this to keep me totally dry in heavy rain or for longer periods of time, but these trips neither of those. Moderate rain for less than half an hour should be a bare minimum for calling a coat "weatherproof." Sadly, this jacket didn't perform much better than any light wool coat would.
I had very high hopes for this material, but sadly it hasn't performed anywhere near as advertised.
